If youre a basketball fan in Austin, Texas, youre in luck. The Austin Toros are a minor league basketball team located in Austin. They play their home games at the Austin Convention Center. Although theyve only been located in Austin for the past four years, this team has quickly become one of the best forms of entertainment in the city.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Brandon Roy had 24 points and five rebounds, Steve Blake added 15 points and the Portland Trail Blazers got a lift from their new-look lineup in a 96-84 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night.



AUSTIN — Despite a 28-point effort from Antonio Anderson, and a strong effort on the boards, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers dropped their season opener to the Austin Toros 93-82 Friday night at the Austin Convention Center. The Vipers out-rebounded the Toros 48-39 and dished out 13 team assists, but lost the turnover battle 24-13, which contributed to falling on the short side of the scoring ledger.

Fouls and free throws were also a story in the game Friday night. The Vipers committed 29 personal fouls, which led to 36 Austin free throw attempts of which it converted 28. The Vipers meanwhile, shot 26 free throws but made just 15.
